Recently, two self-organized teams—TiramiSIU (Ang Lee Chuan, Mavis Ang, Tan Wan Yan, and Cheryse Wee) and Tech Debt (Aalhad Rangnekar, Soh Wen Ming, Pamela Ong, Tan CJ Matthew, and Tan HY Matthew)—participated in the OutSystems Build for the Future Hackathon 2024. This global, remote, 7-day challenge brought together innovators to create impactful apps that raise awareness for global causes and support nonprofits in empowering communities.

Team TiramiSIU was awarded the runner-up position for the hackathon at the OutSystems ONE Conference 2024. All team members from both teams are proud graduates of Temus’ Step IT Up career conversion programme and are now developers in our Low-Code team.

A big congratulations to both teams for their creativity, collaboration, and dedication to continuous learning and driving positive change with their low-code development skills!

Here’s a closer look at their projects:

TiramiSIU

Developed an AI-powered application to support ex-offenders, helping them reintegrate into society. The app assists with job searches and provides regular mental health check-ins, ensuring holistic support for a smooth transition.

Tech Debt

Tackled food waste and hunger with an AI-driven platform that intelligently plans and distributes nutritious meals to those in need. By analyzing food resources, nutritional requirements, and logistical factors, the app ensures surplus food is utilized efficiently, reducing waste while promoting food security and sustainability.

Fun fact: The team named themselves Tech Debt to reflect their journey. After joining the 2023 hackathon but being unable to participate fully due to work commitments, they were determined to return this year with a project they could be proud of—and they delivered!
